Dagdha Yoga: The “Burnt Yoga” in Muhurta Astrology

Dagdha Yoga, often referred to as the “Burnt Yoga” in Vedic Electional Astrology, also called Muhurta Astrology, is important to avoid, but not truly negative in and of itself. Probably the best example of Dagdha Yoga is a burnt out piece of wood on a campfire, or, of course, on a sacrificial fire pit. The wood has been used for the sacrifice, which is certainly a positive thing… but it is not of much more use, that is the only problem.

Another way to look at it is that a big, important Vedic sacrificial ritual has just taken place, and one is maybe immediately thinking about getting people into some other big event. But we doubt many would approve of or use such an approach. Instead, right after having completed some big event, we normally rest, or we bask in the feeling of accomplishment, or simply feel satisfied for the moment. That is the time of Dagdha Yoga.

These examples hopefully give a good sense of what is going on with Dagdha Yoga in Indian Astrology, in that it is not truly negative, but is kind of dead, or burnt out, or should simply be a time of relaxing, or carrying out routine activities. So Dagdha Yoga is therefore definitely avoided for any kind of important business or work events in Muhurta Astrology, and also avoided for important personal events, such as marriages or other kinds of celebrations.

It should be noted that the calculations for Dagdha Yoga in Vedic Astrology are slightly complicated, and we have never seen a Muhurta website that displays when Dagdha Yoga occurs in their visual charts. We do not want to be putting too many boring lists right here, but we do want to assure any potential clients that we here, at Sphinx Ziggurat, know exactly when Dagdha occurs, and are very careful to avoid it when figuring out good Muhurta times for our clients.

Many types of problem astrological yogas can be fixed in one way or another, like for example, by making sure the Sun is in the eleventh house. But we here at Sphinx Ziggurat view Dagdha Yoga as inherently unfixable. So we just completely avoid it when calculating good Muhurta times for our clients.

If the reader is looking to get a Muhurta Chart done for some important event, please see our service right here. We make it a definite point to avoid Dagdha Yoga, and many other harmful Yogas as well.

Thy fate is not yet sealed!
